Photo: ROK-U.S. Family Day at Osan

Released today by 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs:

Capt. James Darlson, 25th Fighter Squadron A-10 pilot, and Senior Airman Darren Nam, AFOC personnel directorate, briefs families on the A-10 capabilities August 6, 2010. Senior Airman Kevin Benberry (on the stairs), a 51st Maintenance Group weapons loader, assists with the A-10 tour. (U.S. Air Force photo by Maj. Denise Kerr) Hi-res

Note: The pictured A-10 (marked 5283 on the nose and 25-283 on the canopy rail) is a non-flyable airframe for ground training. Also note the black-toned windshield. According to my Warthog Aircraft Database, it could be A-10 80-0283 (A10-0633), 25th FS, 51st FW (OS). Another A-10 with 283 as last three digits was A-10 75-0283 (A10-0032), unit assignments not known to me. Looks to me like they faked the original serial number with the 25 to honor the 25th Fighter Squadron. Anybody who can/will provide the real story?
